TubeJournal ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using TubeJournal you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account we collect your name and email address. Authentication is handled by Clerk. We store a reference to your Clerk user ID in our database but do not store your password.

YouTube Channel Data

When you connect a YouTube channel we collect publicly available channel data via the YouTube Data API, including: channel name, handle, description, thumbnail, subscriber count, video titles, descriptions, transcripts, thumbnails, tags, view counts, and video duration. We do not collect private YouTube account data or require YouTube login credentials.

Content You Create

We store the blog posts, edits, notes, affiliate links, and settings you create within TubeJournal, including any images you upload.

Payment Information

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status to manage your plan.

Usage Data

We may collect standard server logs and usage data such as IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and actions taken within the Service. This data is used to operate and improve the Service.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service
  • Generate AI-powered journal entries from your video content
  • Process payments and manage your subscription
  • Send transactional emails related to your account (receipts, account notices)
  • Respond to support requests
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

We do not sell your personal data to third parties and do not use your data for advertising purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate TubeJournal:

  • Clerk — authentication and user management
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
  • Vercel — hosting, infrastructure, and file storage
  • Anthropic — AI content generation
  • YouTube Data API — channel and video data retrieval

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data. We encourage you to review their policies.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data, channel data, posts, images, and notes from our systems. Some data may be retained in backups for a limited period before being permanently deleted.

If your Stripe subscription is cancelled, we retain your billing records as required by financial regulations.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure credential storage, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format

8. Cookies

TubeJournal uses cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect the functionality of the Service.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
